Black Iris by Leah Raeder
Brilliant, but fucked
Maddening
Darker than dark
Best mindfuck
I am not a patient person. This book tested that. I was contemplating a one star review halfway in. Because I was pissed! I needed answers and not knowing was irritating me. I felt played by the unreliable narrator and blindsighted by perfectly orchestrated, poetic writing. It surprises me to say this book took me out of my comfort zone, because I am good to read just about anything, but there were moments I could not finish this. No, my rating did not come easy. It was drained out of me, cleverly so.
Well played, Leah Raeder. Well played.
Well played, Leah Raeder. Well played.
